Shiv Shastri Balboa revolves around Anupam Kher’s visit to the USA for staying with his son. In this film, Shiv Shastri (Anupam Kher), who’s greatly inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s portrayal of Rocky Balboa in ‘Rocky’, makes an effort to aid the Indian lady, Elsa (Neena Gupta) to make a trip to India. The fact that Elsa had to reside in the USA for four years with no approval to visit her motherland has been dealt with very poignantly. The movie juggles with a number of things like passport problems, racist practices, immigration issues, and other social hurdles faced by the people living there. This film poignantly upholds the issues dealt by Indians dwelling in America along with a vivid projection of the location that moved Nargis to do this movie in the first place.
Nargis Fakhri as the Fun-Loving Siya
In this interesting movie, Nargis plays the role of Siya, the girlfriend of Shiv Shastri’s son, Cinnamon Singh (Sharib Hashmi). Her character is that of a bubby and cute Indian girl who’s half-American and resides in Pennsylvania. Siya is shown to be an independent modern lady with a liberal mindset who’s determined to marry her love though her parents seem to be disapproving of it. Nargis, who’s in real life, a goofy kind of girl with a lot of zest, can somewhat relate to the lively character of Siya. However, she does claim that she is funnier than Siya, who’s more of a sweet kind! Nargis was especially happy to do the role of Siya after she heard that Sharib was going to be her co-star.
In tune with her desire to do different and meatier roles, Nargis Fakhri, the lovely model actress, has made a great comeback with Shiv Shastri Balboa and has done an amazing job in her portrayal of Siya, adding a twist to this cheery movie with a social message.
